I’m travelling from Scotland to London Victoria bus station on Friday, and need to get the underground to Enfield when I get there. I’ve been looking on National rail website and trying to find out where I travel from to get to Enfield. Is London Victoria rail station in the same place as London Victoria bus station? How would I get to the underground from the bus station? I’ve never been to London before so I’m a bit worried about ending up in the wrong place as I’m arriving at 7am at the bus station and have to get to Enfield to be picked up. Is it far?

‘Enfield Town’ is the main station in Enfield.

From London Victoria coach station walk north up Buckingham Palace Rd, and about 500 meters from the coach station is the mainline National Rail station. From there, you can buy yourself a single Tube ticket for £4, and go down the escalators following signs for the "Victoria line" (light blue). Take that to Oxford Circus, and change there for the Central line, going eastbound towards Epping and Hainaut.

Once your at Liverpool St Central line station, leave the station following signs for "National Rail". Then buy a ticket and take an overground train to Enfield Town. Total journey cost will be £8.40 and will take you about 45 minutes.

Edit:
Good advice carina. Find out which station your suppose to be meeting them at before you start your journey. Forgot to mention the other stations.. lol

I am traveling to London in a few weeks on a chaperoned trip and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on overseas traveling.
#1 Things I must bring (besides the obvious passport, money, phone…)
#2 What weather to expect there (scarves/hat? warmer or colder)
#3 Anything I should buy that would be helpful while I’m over there?
#4 Any any any any advice/words of wisdom/experiences

I appreciate it SO much!

They haven´t given you a list, yet? Ask the chaperon.

It will be cold in the winter! It IS a northern country. Bring winter clothing.

Anything that is electrical needs to have a converter (for the voltage) and an adaptor (for the plug) DON’T bother with your cell phone, because it probably won’t work there. Check first, with your service, but then, I found that the battery was lessened by using their electricity…shorter lifespan.

DON’T FORGET YOUR CAMERA (I don’t know whether you term that a no brainer, it is for me…) and extra memory! You will want more than you think you will.

Travel light. don’t carry a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff. You’re only going to be there for, what? a week or two? You can do without a lot of stuff.

OH! and some sort of handheld games are fun for the flight…it’s going to be LONG!

And Ipods are good, too, especially for the flight.

Any advice about London travel?

I have some errands to run tomorrow and there will be a lot of train use. I will be going to Clapham Junction and back and forth a couple of places.
What are some things I should know about, since I’ve never used it before?

Get a one day travelcard but don’t forget, snow at this time of the year COMES AS A COMPLETE SURPRISE to the railway authorities so expect delays and severe disruptions to all services

Use the Transport for London Trip planner next time

From Tottenham Hale Underground Station
Take the Victoria Line towards Brixton to
Oxford Circus Underground Station
–> transfer
Take the Bakerloo Line towards Stonebridge Park
or Bakerloo Line towards Harrow & Wealdstone
or Bakerloo Line towards Queen’s Park
to Maida Vale Underground Station

If you want to walk through London, you may be better off getting off at Warren Street (before Oxford Circus) and walking through the park to Maida Vale. It is over a 2 mile walk.

Any tips on traveling in London?

I leave tomorrow and was wondering if there is anything that a local might consider it important for an American to know when going over. Tipping, etc.
